Tanzania sits just below the equator, so temperatures stay pleasant all year. What really changes is the rain — and altitude.
Ngorongoro Crater rim sits at 2,300 metres and drops to 8°C at dawn, so a fleece and beanie are essential. The Serengeti plains are warmer, Tarangire is hotter and drier, and Zanzibar is humid and coastal at 28–32°C year round.
You pass through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert and arctic summit conditions in a few days. Expect 25°C at the gate and −10 to −20°C with wind chill at Uhuru Peak, at any time of year.
